Cherry Ridge Farms was established in 1990 and is located in Jones County in the central part of Georgia in the community of Bradley. The farm is located 4 miles west of Gray, which is the county seat and 20 miles northwest of Macon. Visitors are always welcome.

We presently are running about 90 head of cattle, 25% of these are registered Polled Hereford and 75% are Beefmaster-Hereford crosses. All cattle in the herd are vaccinated against IBR, BVD, Blackleg and PI3 yearly.

Our registered Polled Hereford herd reflects the genetics of such well-known herd bulls as BTF FORAGE FINDER 109W, CES HRP VICTOR 964 44B, CES VICTOR F243 M90, MSU OPTIMUM Z03, RHF VICTOR 355 629, TRM JLH A-1,BOYD'S HEAVY HITTER 4007, MPH TOP Headline H454 and JMS CES WCF Vic 238 632 used on Victor Domino cows. The registered Polled Herefords breeding program is geared toward a superior calf with low EPDs in birth weight and high weaning and yearling weights,along with high milk EPDs.

The Beefmaster-Hereford crosses are being bred to registered Angus bulls. Our cross-breeding program is geared to low-birth weights with superior weaning and yearling weights with an emphasis on milk EPDs. We market all the bull calves from the cross-breeding program as steers at 13 months and market the heifers as replacements.

We are also branching out into the Registered Angus breed in 2011, so check back for updates.

We were a 1999 recepient of a grant from the Georgia Grazing Lands Conservation Coalition and worked throughout 2000 to implement innovative and creative new ideas in herd health and water and soil conservation. We worked hand in hand with USDA NCRS and the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service to accomplish this. Check back here often for updates and progress pictures. We have also completed several cost-sharing conservation grants with EQUIP thru the USDA NRCS.

We are members of the Georgia Polled Hereford Association, American Hereford Association, Georgia Cattlemen's Association , Baldwin-Jones Cattlemen's Association, the Georgia Farm Bureau and Jones County Farm Bureau. We serve on the Board of Directors of the Jones County Farm Bureau.
